The Denver Broncos took the league by storm when they shocked their largest pundits and made the playoffs behind the arm of rookie quarterback Bo Bix out of the University of Oregon.
Nix and Broncos head coach Sean Payton will look to build on last season’s success, which saw them lose in the wild card round to the Buffalo Bills in a game that wasn’t all that close.
However, for Nix to improve, he’ll need veteran leadership around to show him the ropes. Knowing this, the Broncos added a veteran quarterback to its depth chart, replacing Zach Wilson, who signed with the Miami Dolphins earlier this offseason, according to one prominent league insider.
“Broncos signed free-agent quarterback Sam Ehlinger, who spent the first four NFL seasons with the Colts,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Wednesday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Ehlinger may not be flashy, but he’s tough and can handle chaos. Which fits the Broncos perfectly,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“He’d rather compete for the backup role in Denver. I don’t blame him,” another fan added.
“Ehlinger’s got potential. Hopefully, this works out better than his time with the Colts,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Ehlinger gets a chance to show what he’s got on the field next season.
