The Cleveland Browns seem to be stuck in a perpetual cycle of incompetent quarterbacks. Even before rupturing his Achilles, Deshaun Watson was playing like arguably the worst starter in the league last season.
Now that Watson’s status for next season is up in the air, the Browns are trying to figure out who will lead the team next season. The Browns have already traded with the Philadelphia Eagles for Kenny Pickett and may still address the position in the draft.
There’s a new option being floated on Lake Erie as well, per a report from two NFL Network insiders.
“Ten-time Pro Bowl QB Russell Wilson is expected to visit the #Browns this week, sources tell me and (Ian Rapoport). Wilson, 36, finished last season as the #Steelers’ starter and is still in the mix to return there. For now, he’s visiting an AFC North rival,” reported NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on Wednesday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“The Browns went from super bowl contenders during the covid year and the 2021 season to a literal joke. I don’t get it. Ignoring the Bill Cosby at QB stuff, it just infuriates me. This is not a team. This is a SNL sketch. And like SNL, it’s not funny,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“As a Steelers fan that’s prob their best option, and then draft a qb and let him sit under Russ,” one fan added.
“Please God, no. I’ve already been through so much pain,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see which route Cleveland decides to take.
