Former Cleveland Browns star Peyton Hillis is headed home from the hospital following a near-tragic accident.
A Florida hospital discharged the former Browns star nearly three weeks after he heroically saved three children from drowning. Hillis was hospitalized with potentially life-threatening damage to his kidneys. But miraculously, the former Madden cover star is heading home.
Hillis’ sister, Hayley Davis, informed Facebook of the news early Saturday morning:
“Our lives were rocked (for the second time this year) on January 4th, in a blink of an eye.” Davis wrote. “I remember one second I was thinking about what a beautiful day it was and thanking God for this time at the beach with my family and wishing Matt was there, to the next second being yards out from shore, terrified with Camille thinking ‘how did I get here?’ and looking at our beautiful Mille and thinking she’s why! I’d do anything for her. God was truly with us that day. He guided us and protected us all and I am so thankful for his provision.”
Davis continued with harrowing details saying, “I remember seeing Peyt laid out on the sand unable to move and my mom having to run back and forth between us as the medics helped each of us. I just kept praying that Peyt would be ok.”
The former Cleveland running back, who last played in the NFL in 2014 with the New York Giants, has yet to officially comment on his injuries.
