The Cleveland Browns still don’t know who their starting quarterback for the 2025 NFL season will be after Deshaun Watson suffered a setback in the recovery from the Achilles injury he suffered last season.
Earlier this offseason, the Browns traded for former Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, with many assuming the Browns dealt for Pickett so they’d have a viable backup with starter experience.
Shockingly, it doesnt’ seem as if Pickett is quite on board for that plan.
“That’s the plan, man. I’m not going there to hang out,” Pickett said, per Jerry DiPaola of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “I want to go play. I’m excited, been working hard for it, taking it a day at a time.”
Fans reacted to Pickett’s words on social media.
“Tbf his name will fit in perfectly on that infamous jersey with all the failed QB names on it,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Have to respect the attitude he has going into OTAs and training camp,” another fan added.
“I don’t think anybody goes to Cleveland just to hang out,” one fan added.
“Kenny Pickett’s bold statement about starting for the Browns shows his confidence and ambition. It’s clear he’s not just looking to be a backup; he wants to lead the team. This could shake things up in Cleveland and make for an exciting season!” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see if Pickett can beat out the Browns’ other quarterbacks for the starting job.
