The Cleveland Browns are desperate to get things turned around after what was nothing short of a disastrous season in 2024. The Browns went 3-14 on the season, with star pass rusher and face-of-the-franchise Myles Garrett demanding a trade after the conclusion of the season.
The Browns are also dealing with a lot of question marks at the quarterback position. Deshaun Watson opened the season as the team’s starter, a roe in which he struggled mightily before his season was ended with an Achilles injury.
Watson’s status for next season is now uncertain after he suffered a major setback in his recovery. Regardless of who the starting quarterback is for Cleveland next season, the franchise has decided to revisit Watson’s contract and reversed the original language, according to one prominent insider.
“The Browns have restructured the contract of QB Deshaun Watson, creating nearly $36M in 2025 cap space,” reported Field Yates on Thursday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“At this point just attach him to the Myles Garrett trade. Would finally allow us a fresh start even if we would get nothing in return for a generational defensive end,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“No surprise this was done. They will do it again next March before the new league year starts,” another fan added.
“GM knows he’s cooked so he’s going all in and making it the next guys problem,” wrote someone else.
It’ll be interesting to see how things shake out for the Browns next season.
