The Cleveland Browns surprised the NFL community when they traded for former Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett, with the plan that he’d be competing for a starting job.

Now, it looks like the Browns are making a major move to protect whoever their starting quarterback ends up being.

Offensive tackle Cornelius Lucas to the #Browns for two years and up to $10 million, per source. Former Commanders tackle heads to the AFC North,” reported ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Tuesday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“The Browns need Depth at every position! We had the talent last year but the injuries killed us,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Good pickup for the Browns. Lucas held us down when we didn’t have anyone to play LT,” one fan added.

“This signing will likely fly under the radar but it might be one of the best of the offseason so far. Lucas allowed a 5.1% pressure rate in 2024. Among players to have played 150+ snaps at LT, he ranked 15th, narrowly behind Trent Williams, Christian Darrisaw, & Alaric Jackson,” someone else added.

“Good player and a great swing tackle. Huge upgrade over Hudson,” one Browns fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see what else the Browns have planned for free agency.
