The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are looking to stay consistent after a strong season that was ultimately derailed by untimely injuries to some of their key players. Still, when healthy, the Bucs looked like one of the best teams not only in the NFC but in the entire league last year.
As good as they looked at times, it’s not hard to see why the organization is electing to move forward with some continuity as it works to establish year in and year out stability, per one NFL insider.
“Buccaneers have signed head coach Todd Bowles and general manager Jason Licht to multi-year contract extensions, per sources. Bowles now enters his fourth year as the Bucs’ head coach after leading the team to three consecutive NFC South titles from 2022-24. Licht is currently the NFL’s fifth-longest tenured traditional general manager, entering his 12th season as the team’s GM,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Thursday morning.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“He’s pedestrian at best, a solid coach but there’s a ceiling there. He’s a SB caliber DC under a great young offensive HC though,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Good coach who hires good assistants. Solid move, even though the division is garbage lol,” one fan added.
“Foundation is locked in for Tampa and they have their QB with a solid supporting cast,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see if the moves pan out for Tampa Bay in the long term.
