The Buffalo Bills are moving to bolster the weapons around star quarterback Josh Allen.

On Monday, the franchise announced that it was signing former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Trent Sherfield to a one-year deal. The terms of the deal are currently undisclosed, but Sherfield adds depth to a receivers room that faced a lot of criticism in 2022.

Last season, Sherfield was the Dolphins’ third-leading receiver, as he set a career-high in catches (30), yards (417) and touchdowns (2). The 27-year-old receiver averaged 13.9 yards per catch, which also ranked third on the team, just behind All-Pro Tyreek Hill. In addition to Hill and Jaylen Waddle, Sherfield has good speed, as he scored one of Miami’s eight touchdowns last season that were clocked over 20 mph, according to NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo.

The Bills held a press conference with local reporters Monday announcing the signing of Sherfield, who detailed his decision to sign with the Bills via Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com. He is especially excited to have a chance to play with Allen.

“If you want to be an elite receiver, come and play with an elite quarterback,” Sherfield said in regards to joining Allen and the Bills, amongst other suitors.
