Caleb Williams

The Chicago Bears and thier fans were hopeful that former Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams would be the franchise quarterback they’ve been desperately missing since the Jay Cutler days when Chicago selected Williams with the number one overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft.

Unfortunately, Willams’ first season in the NFL left a lot to be desired. Williams will have a new head coach next season in former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.

It looks like Johnson is going to have to unlock Williams’ potential because the young quarterback shouldn’t expect to get much help from around the league after some recent comments that he’s made.

“I think the NFL game has become very friendly, and I don’t necessarily want to be friends, because I want to keep that competitive advantage,” Williams said, per Pro Football Talk.

Fans reacted to Williams’ message for the rest of the league on social media.

“This works in basketball when you’re actually playing against other players but you’re not playing against the other Qb bro this gimmick corny,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“People will use this to hate on Caleb Williams but I absolutely LOVE this mindset. You really only hear this type of mentality from the great ones. Caleb doesn’t care about being cool with everyone. He just wants to chase greatness,” someone else added.

“I’m glad he is wired like this,” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if Williams can improve upon his disappointing rookie season.
