Cam Ward Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward (1) throws in drills during OTAs at Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park in Nashville, Tenn., Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

The Tennessee Titans selected quarterback Cam Ward out of the University of Miami with the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. While Ward is technically battling with the Titans’ incumbent starter at the position, Will Levis, the expectation is that Ward will be the starter next season.

As a full-time starter in the NFL, Ward will have to put a premium on protecting the football, which is why some words shared by wide receiver Calvin Ridley on what he’s seen from Ward thus far are a bit disturbing.

“You need that at the quarterback position, man,” Ridley said, according to Pro Football Talk. “You can’t just be an overthinker, a jittery guy. You’ve just got to kind of be OK with, you know, fucking up, doing good.

“You’ve just got to have that ‘[expletive] it’ mentality. He’s kind of got that.”

Fans reacted to Ridley’s words on social media.

“Last 2 QBs drafted first couldnt win any games and coaches were fired Lets see what Ward does. They’d better teach him to read an NFL defense because they start vs Broncos and Ram,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“***Texans Secondary salivating from the mouth***,” one fan added.

“Calvin know abouAll Postst “[expletive] it” mentality when he runs his routes,” wrote one person.

It’ll be interesting to see if Ward learns to rein things in.
