Former Miami Hurricanes star quarterback Cam Ward emerged as one of the most dominant passers in college football this past season and is viewed as one of the top picks in the upcoming NFL Draft. But if you ask him, he should be the clear-cut No. 1 overall pick.
During a recent interview, Cam Ward sent a pretty brutal warning to any team that’s considering passing him up in the draft, saying that he will remember that decision for the rest of his career.
“OK, you’re either going to draft me or you’re not,” Ward said according to the Associated Press. “If you don’t draft me, that’s your fault. You’ve got to remember you’re the same team that’s got to play me for the rest of my career, and I’ll remember that.”
Ward said that he watched Washington Commanders rookie Jayden Daniels dominate this season as a rookie, and he wants to emulate that sort of success.
“To see him succeed,” Ward said of Daniels, “is motivating for not only myself but all of the other quarterbacks.”
The Tennessee Titans currently hold the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft and they are indeed in need of a new quarterback after benching Will Levis last season.
We’ll have to see whether or not they choose to use that pick on Ward or a different quarterback.
If the Titans do decided to pass up on Ward, however, it sounds like he’s going to do everything he can to make them regret that decision.
