The Carolina Panthers brought in veteran quarterback Andy Dalton this offseason, who has always been seen as a solid, serviceable quarterback that can perform in a pinch. However, Panthers running back Miles Sanders seemingly sees him as much better than most people, making an absurd claim about him.

Dalton did have some very productive years with the Cincinnati Bengals in the past, making three Pro Bowl appearances while leading the Bengals to five postseason appearances during his tenure with the team.

Unfortunately, he and the Bengals were never able to get over the hump once they did make it to the postseason, never making it past the Wild Card round of the playoffs under Dalton.

For that reason, most fans see Dalton as only slightly above average even at his best. Sanders on the other hand clearly feels like Dalton has a lasting legacy in the NFL.

Sanders spoke about his new teammate on Friday, shockingly calling Dalton a “future Hall of Famer”.

“We got a very, very good young quarterback that’s being mentored by a very, very, very good quarterback, a future Hall of Famer Andy Dalton—who I have a lot of respect for,” said Sanders via Anthony Rizzuti of USA Today’s Panthers Wire.

You would certainly be hard pressed to find even the biggest Andy Dalton fan out there calling him a Hall of Famer in the future. Fans were clearly shocked by this quote from Sanders. Understandably, they ripped Sanders for the take on social media.

Sanders may want to go look at the active Hall of Famers at the quarterback position and walk his stance back on Dalton a little bit…
