The Washington Commanders are hoping for a major boost this weekend with the return of defensive lineman Chase Young, the 2020 NFL Rookie of the Year.
Young has yet to play in the 2022 campaign after suffering an ACL and MCL tear against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Oct. 2021. Young had only registered 1.5 sacks in his disappointing sophomore campaign before being injured.
ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday that the Commanders “expected” to activate Young this week. That expectation appears to be premature, according to NFL.com insider Ian Rapoport.

The Commanders selected Young as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Young was one of the most highly decorated Ohio State Buckeyes in program history, earning the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, the Chuck Bednarik Award, and the Big Ten Male Athlete of the Year during the 2019 season.
The 5-5 Washington Commanders are in action Sunday when travel to Texas to face the Houston Texans.
