Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher Joey Bosa will miss eight to 10 weeks after undergoing surgery for a torn groin Thursday, ESPN reported Sunday.
Chargers’ star pass rusher Joey Bosa is expected to miss eight to 10 weeks with a groin tear, per sources. Bosa underwent surgery Thursday — one day after being placed on IR — for the same injury that his brother Nick Bosa suffered at Ohio State.https://t.co/o4RySt5hlo

The Chargers had placed the four-time Pro Bowl player on the IR Wednesday. At that time, coach Brandon Staley told reporters Bosa is “not returning in the near future.” But this new timetable of eight to 10 weeks is more specific, and pushes his earliest possible return to late November or early December.
“Successful (surgery),” Staley said Friday (via Pro Football Talk). “One day closer. Like I said, we got good news because we’re looking forward to seeing him at some point this season. He’s on the road to recovery. It was successful. Again, we’ll keep you posted as we go.”
It will obviously take Bosa time to get back up to speed after his return. And that may pose further problems for a Chargers team that has been beset with injuries this year. Quarterback Justin Herbert is playing through a rib injury. Offensive tackle Rashawn Slater is on the IR with a biceps problem. Wide receiver Keenan Allen is battling a hamstring injury and is out Sunday.
The Chargers (1-2) play the Houston Texans Sunday.
