It’s been a great week for the Los Angeles Chargers. On Monday, the team clinched a berth in the NFL Playoffs for the first time since the 2018-19 season. It was also revealed Monday that the team could get one of its stars back soon. And on Thursday, that news came to fruition.

The Chargers will get star pass-rusher Joey Bosa back. Bosa, who sustained a groin injury in Week 3, has missed time since then and was placed on IR. But Los Angeles designated him to return from IR and he will come back to practice.

Team reporter Hayley Elwood tweeted about Bosa’s return. “Chargers OLB Joey Bosa has been designated to return from IR and will practice today,” Elwood said.

That’s big news for a team that’s going into the playoffs. Bosa is a difference-maker on the field. Over his seven-year NFL career, he’s recorded 59.5 sacks.

Reactions trickled out after the news broke. The Chargers’ announcement of Bosa’s return came as a meme.

Former NFL defensive lineman Leger Douzable called the Chargers’ announcement “amazing.”

Football writer Eric Williams then said, “Bolts already playing lights out on defense. The return of Joey Bosa should make them even better.” And it should, which could make them dangerous in the postseason.

Then, ESPN’s Field Yates called Bosa’s return, “A huge boost for a surging Chargers defense.”

Finally, Ben Solak played the old Simpsons chalkboard gag in the form of a tweet.
