The Los Angeles Chargers are looking to turn the corner and make a deep playoff run for the first time under the leadership of star quarterback Justin Herbert, who has yet to see his regular-season success translate deep into the postseason.

The Chargers are having a strong season, with Sunday’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders improving Los Angeles to 8-4 on the year. Unfortunately, the win was marred by an injury suffered by Herbert.

According to ESPN’s Kris Rhim, Herbert broke his left hand in the game, requiring a Monday surgery.

Fans reacted to the brutal news on social media.

“Justin Herbert just played the rest of the game with a broken hand and threw for 273 yards and three touchdowns like it was nothing. Most quarterbacks would have left the field crying for their trainer. This guy finished the route and then dropped the news after the win. That is the toughest player in the league right now and nobody wants to admit it because he is not loud about it. Chargers might actually be dangerous in January,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“A broken hand could change the season for the Chargers. One moment of pain can ripple through an entire career,” someone else added.

“Don’t let these suckas miss the superbowl bc of it (and Cameron Dicker, ya gotta be a better kicker mate),” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see how this affects the rest of the Chargers’ season.
