The Los Angeles Chargers have been without star wide receiver Keenan Allen for much of the year due to a nagging hamstring injury. While he was able to return last week, the team will now be without fellow star receiver Mike Williams for quite some time.

The Athletic’s Daniel Popper reported on Wednesday that the Chargers are expecting Williams to miss a minimum of four weeks after suffering a high-ankle sprain in the team’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks last week.

Williams was in the midst of an excellent season with the Chargers, with 495 receiving yards on the year which ranks 10th in the NFL in that statistic.

That will be put on halt for quite some time, and Chargers fans are certainly disappointed to hear the negative update on Williams’ availability moving forward.

This injury to Mike Williams follows a troubling trend of injuries to key players to the Chargers, including star pass-rusher Joey Bosa, cornerback J.C. Jackson, and offensive lineman Rashawn Slater.

Luckily they will be able to recover some with their bye-week coming in Week 8, but these long-term injuries are still extremely worrying for Los Angeles.

They currently sit at 4-3 on the year under head coach Brandon Staley, but you have to seriously wonder how long they can keep up this success with so many top players on the sideline.
