The Los Angeles Chargers are looking to make their first deep playoff run under star quarterback Justin Herbert this season. Things got off to a promising start when Los Angeles opened the season 3-0. However, the Chargers have dropped two games in a row since their hot start. Now, there’s been some tough news that will make getting things back on track even more difficult.

“Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh said RB Omarion Hampton will be placed on injured reserve, sidelining him a minimum of four games due to his ankle injury,” ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter reported.

Schefter then followed up with more context surrounding Hampton’s injury.

“Chargers now have lost RB Omarion Hampton for at least four weeks due to an ankle injury and Najee Harris for the season due to a torn Achilles.”

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“This puts so much unexpected pressure on those younger guys or maybe even forces them to look outside the building for some veteran help quick. Harbaugh is known for his toughness, but even he has to feel the sting of losing that depth so early in the season,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Chargers went from Super Bowl favorite to wild card hopeful real fast,” someone else added.

“If you wrote down the names of the Chargers 10 best players — most are now injured/out,” one fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Chargers can overcome the losses of their top two backs.
