Charlie Woods Charlie Woods hits the ball Thursday, July 31, 2025, during the Junior PGA Championship at the Purdue Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Indiana.

It can be difficult growing up as the child of a legendary professional athlete. Just ask Bronny James, who faced endless and unwarranted criticism after being selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the NBA draft to play alongside his father, LeBron James.

Charlie Woods, the son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, has been in the limelight his entire life, just like Bronny. Now, just a week after struggling in the opening round at Trinity Forest Golf Club and failing to make the cut, Woods, 16, is showing his mental fortitude.

Woods is entering the final round of the Junior PGA Championship tied for second place, and the top two finishers automatically qualify for the Junior Ryder Cup team.

Woods talked about his nine-birdie Thursday after his round was over.

“My round was pretty up and down, and it gave me a heart attack out there,” he said. “But nine birdies is pretty good. A couple of three-putts, I made a few mistakes today but overall pretty solid round. Pretty good position going into tomorrow.”

Fans reacted to the news of Woods’ success on social media.

“Can we not just leave the guy alone and let him enjoy his childhood,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Back to back 66s and being behind by 7 shots is insane. That other kid is going off,” another fan added.

“Regardless of where you stand on Charlie Woods. This is freakishly impressive, and he’s taken the next step as an elite golfer this year,” one fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if Woods can finsish the job.
