Chauncey Gardner-Johnson is not over the Super Bowl loss, as the former Eagles cornerback let his voice be heard on Monday. It appears that Gardner-Johnson, who now plays for the Detroit Lions, is still irritated by the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He claimed on Twitter that the game would have had a different outcome if the teams played on natural grass.

“Run that bowl back on legit grass, the Dline SMASH that Oline I’m sorry,” Gardner-Johnson tweeted.

The Eagles, who held the lead at halftime of the Super Bowl, fell to the Chiefs 38-35 in an epic encounter in the desert. The game is indeed remembered for poor turf conditions. However, it’s more than a bit outrageous to suggest it had that adverse an effect, especially as we are now months removed from it.

Eagle stars Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown have each publicly put the Super Bowl loss behind them. Brown and Hurts, both still on the Eagles, appear to be using that loss as motivation. So will the opinion of someone who isn’t on the team anymore carry weight? In fairness, it did cause quite a stir on Twitter.

But the dust has long settled. The Chiefs are the Super Bowl champions, poor turf or not, and a do-over for the Eagles won’t happen.
