When the Chicago Bears traded the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to the Carolina Panthers, the return featured a treasure trove of picks. Carolina also sent wide receiver DJ Moore to Chicago as part of the deal.
Moore’s inclusion in the deal energized the Chicago fanbase, which has only seen a handful of great receivers throughout the team’s storied history. He immediately answered the call, finishing the 2023 season with 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns, both career highs. Moore’s 1,364 receiving yards were the fourth-best in a single season in Bears history.
With preseason set to get underway Thursday night when the Bears take on the Houston Texans in the Hall of Fame Game, extending Moore before the season became a priority for Chicago. Tuesday night, the sides agreed on a four-year extension worth $110 million.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter had the news first.
DJ Moore and the Bears reached agreement on a four-year, $110 million extension that includes $82.6M guaranteed. The deal was negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus, Jason Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey.

As Schefter notes, Moore is the first wide receiver to have a guaranteed contract for each of his first ten career seasons.
The extension is also the largest in Chicago’s franchise history, and Moore’s $82.6 million guaranteed trails just Justin Jefferson and AJ Brown for most for a receiver in NFL history.
With quarterback Caleb Williams, running back D’Andre Swift, and wide receiver Rome Odunze each holding multi-year deals, Moore’s extension solidifies the Bears’ offensive core for the remainder of the decade.
