The Kansas City Chiefs remained one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL despite the loss of star wide receiver Tyreek Hill last offseason. A report has emerged that suggests they may get even more dangerous in the 2023-24 season.
The Arizona Cardinals are likely set to miss starting quarterback Kyler Murray for the majority of the upcoming season after his ACL tear back in December. This makes it likely that they will move on from some key veterans as they attempt to rebuild. This reportedly may open the door for the Chiefs to make a run at star receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
Newly hired Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon was asked about Hopkins’ future on Tuesday when asked at the NFL Draft Combine. He was brutally honest, saying that he “wasn’t sure” if Hopkins would be on the Cardinals roster in 2023.

If they do move on from Hopkins, it appears that the Chiefs may emerge as a major contender for his services. Denver Broncos insider Benjamin Allbright discussed the possibility on the PHNX Podcast on YouTube on-site at the draft combine, detailing that he is hearing that the Chiefs are the “prime suitor for Hopkins.
“I think there are going to be some painful move-on’s,” Allbright said about the Cardinals. “DeAndre Hopkins probably isn’t going to be back. From what I’m hearing Kansas City is the primary suitor there.”
It would certainly be interesting to see a player of Hopkins’ caliber in the Chiefs’ dynamic offense. Many fans took to social media to offer their opinion on Hopkins potentially leaving the Cardinals this offseason.

One thing that could have made this possibility much easier was Hopkins’ no-trade clause in his contract. This would have allowed Hopkins to practically choose his destination. However, this got voided due to his six-game PED suspension to begin the 2022-23 season.
