The Kansas City Chiefs are dead set on getting back to the Super Bowl and avenging their embarrassing defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles. Kansas City has responded to the defeat by surrounding star quarterback Patrick Mahomes with what he feels may be the deepest offense he has been a part of in his career.
However, Mahomes and the offense can’t get back to the Super Bowl alone. Kansas City will still need elite play on the other side of the ball as well. On Sunday, the Chiefs made a move that will keep one of the defensive’s most critical pieces in Kansas City for the foreseeable future, according to one prominent NFL insider.
“Chiefs and 2022 first-round pick George Karlaftis reached agreement today on a four-year $93 million contract extension that includes $62 million guaranteed, per his agency the (WIN Sports Group). Karlaftis posted 24.5 sacks during his first three seasons in Kansas City – and now will continue as a focal point of the Chiefs’ defense,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Sunday.

“23 mil per year for an average player who eats off Chris jones gravity Brett veach is an absolute disgrace man. Rather let him walk for nothing,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“This isn’t breaking the bank, and the structure is going to be wildly important. Tentatively I think I’m in,” one Chiefs fan added.
“Maybe it’s just me but I feel like Karlaftis is one of the most under-appreciated edge players in the league,” added someone else.
It’ll be interesting to see if Karlaftis lives up to the massive extension.
