The Kansas City Chiefs know that to avenge last season’s embarrassing defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles, they’ll need to improve their downfield passing attack. Unfortunately, they will be without star receiver Rashe Rice for the first six games of the season as he serves his suspension.
Now, they’re dealing with another blow to the receiving corps, as lethal downfield threat Xavier Worthy was injured in a collision with tight end Travis Kelce. Now, Kelce is taking the shocking move to own up to his culpability in the injury.
“I’m supposed to be running my route at depth for Worthy … I just gotta be better, man. I’m 13 years in the league. There’s no excuse for me running into my own guys like that,” Underdog NFL reported.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Sabotaged Worthy …. Man Has Cleared It Out For Tyreke Hill All Them Years And Nih He Wanna Act Slow,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“I knew that Kelce was running the wrong route, the two of them crossing the middle of the field at the same time is ridiculous, it (messed) up our attack,” someone else added.
“Kelce, were not stupid. We know you were trying to do an illegal pick,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see what Kelce still has left in the tank as the season continues to unfold.
