We wondered if running back Christian McCaffrey’s draft stock dipped during the 2016 season. Nonetheless, he went eighth overall to the Carolina Panthers, and now we’re getting our first glimpse of how good the former Stanford star can be.

Here he is at Panthers training camp putting the moves on linebacker Luke Kuechly, one of the best run defenders in the NFL.

Add this to the list of summer’s training camp stories. We’ve also seen Kobe Bryant welcome the Chargers to Los Angeles, a woman from North Dakota cry tears of joy upon seeing Carson Wentz, and Dez Bryant pull an emotional kid out of the crowd to play catch.

After being the Heisman runner-up in 2015, McCaffrey ran 253 times for 1,603 yards and 13 touchdowns last year at Stanford. He’s also a receiving and special teams threat. While the Panthers have a pair of veteran backs in Jonathan Stewart and Fozzy Whitaker, McCaffrey could take over if he keeps making defenders look this silly. We’ll see how McCaffrey’s running game translates to the NFL, but clearly he’ll pose mismatches when the Panthers use him as a slot receiver.
