Joe Burrow

The Cincinnati Bengals and star quarterback Joe Burrow have made it their mission to get back to the playoffs this season after missing out in each of the past two seasons. The Bengals have been plagued by slow starts to their seasons, and were eager to prevent another one this year.

To combat the issue, Cincinnati has allowed its most important players, including quarterback Joe Burrow, who played in both of the team’s first two preseason games, to undergo an increased workload than has been typical in prior training camps.

Now, it appears that the plan has backfired, as the Bengals and quarterback Joe Burrow, who counts on his offensive lineman to protect him on Sundays, received some absolutely brutal news on the injury front.

“Bengals G Cordell Volson, who has started 48 games over the last three years, will likely miss the entire 2025 NFL season with a shoulder injury that requires surgery,” reported Ari Meirov on Wednesday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“And they let Risner walk out without a deal? Ugh,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“That has to increase the chances McLaughlin & Lee have a shot to make the roster. Sorry to hear that for Volson, hopefully he finds somewhere to play next year,” someone else added.

“Oline mid, defense still (bad)…pray for Burrow,” another person wrote.

Hopefully, Burrow manages to stay healthy behind what figures to be a shaky offensive line this season.
