The Cincinnati Bengals were already dealing with one devastating season-ending injury with star quarterback Joe Burrow out for the season with a wrist injury. But as the team continues to fight for a postseason appearance, they got more horrible news this week.
During Saturday afternoon’s overtime win over the Minnesota Vikings, the Cincinnati Bengals lost two more key players to season-ending injuries with defensive lineman DJ Reader suffering a season-ending quad injury and defensive back DJ Ivey suffering a season-ending quad injury. This came the same game as star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase also suffered a shoulder injury, though his prognosis is better.
“Zac Taylor confirms DJ Reader (quad) and DJ Ivey (ACL) both out for the season. On Ja’Marr Chase (shoulder): ‘We’ll continue to see how this week goes. Day to day,'” Cincinnati Bengals beat writer Paul Dehner Jr. said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Obviously, this is pretty horrible news for the Cincinnati Bengals as they continue to try to clinch a spot in the postseason even without Burrow, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media as a result.
Ugh. Not good 🥺🥺 hoping for a very quick healing for all these guys! https://t.co/FJY5EDS4mJ

This really does feel like a 1-step-forward, 2-steps-back kind of season.
C’mon, Football Gods! There’s no lamb’s blood the smeared on the Black & Gold brigade’s door.
Go take their first-born sons and leave us be. Haven’t we suffered enough already? https://t.co/Q2NyCHFxdD

We’ll have to see how the Bengals bounce back from these big losses.
