The Cincinnati Bengals had previously given no timeline for quarterback Joe Burrow’s return after the star had his appendix removed last month. But the team offered a significant update on Sunday that Burrow had returned to the practice field.

The team announced Burrow‘s return to the practice field in a Tweet on Sunday afternoon, sharing a video of the Bengals’ star walking in his practice jersey and pads.

“He’s baaaaack,” the Tweet read.

It’s unclear how much Burrow was able to practice on Sunday even if he did return to the field. However, Burrow participating in practice in any capacity is good news for Cincinnati as they hope for their star quarterback’s return.

While he wasn’t able to officially practice with the team following his appendix surgery, Burrow has not been completely absent from Bengals practices. The star quarterback still attended practices, either standing on the sideline or riding in a cart. Burrow even used his cart to participate in wind sprints with the team earlier this month.

The Bengals currently have two preseason games remaining. Cincinnati faces the New York Giants on the road on Sunday, Aug. 21, and hosts the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday, Aug. 27. It’s not clear which of those games Burrow will play in – if either of them.
