The Cleveland Browns have a quarterback-sized question mark in their locker room. Last year’s opening week starter, Deshaun Watson, went down with an Achilles injury that ended his season early last year, and then suffered a setback in his recovery.
The Browns responded by drafting two quarterbacks in Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, adding Kenny Pickett in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, and signing veteran Joe Flacco.
Now, as the Browns gear up for their first preseason game, they’ve listed thier first official depth chart for the position.
On the Browns’ first depth chart of the season, they list their QBs in this order: 1. Joe Flacco 2. Kenny Pickett 3. Dillon Gabriel 4. Shedeur Sanders,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter on Monday evening.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Nothing with letting a pair of rookies learn from a gunslinger veteran. Not sure what Pickett is doing there, but hey…it’s the Browns,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Where are all those people glazing Shedeur at now? Bragging about cherry-picked stats from cherry-picked practices & series,” another fan added.
“If there was ever a franchise committed to being unserious out of all professional sports teams, it is the Browns. No question,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Sanders can climb the depth chart before the regular season begins.
