Super Bowl LVII takes place on Sunday between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. It also marks ten years since Colin Kaepernick led the San Francisco 49ers to the NFL championship game. Since then, the former quarterback’s career and life have taken some surprising and shocking twists. And while it appears that his NFL career is almost certainly over, Kaepernick has a new job with an even higher purpose.
Ten years after his Super Bowl appearance, Colin Kaepernick is devoting time, money, care and a "painstaking attention to detail" to fact-checking police killings, one independent autopsy at a time:https://t.co/p60qxGVGAg

According to a new profile by Sports Illustrated’s Alex Prewitt, the former 49ers quarterback is devoting his energy and resources towards fact-checking police killings through his Know Your Rights Camp Autopsy Initiative, which provides secondary autopsies to families dealing with a tragic loss.
Kaepernick launched the Know Your Rights Camp Autopsy Initiative in February 2022 with the objective to “provide a second autopsy free-of-charge for victims’ families who have lost their loved ones due to a police-related death. The services offered through the Initiative include the completion of a second autopsy, disclosure of preliminary findings, and issuance of the final autopsy report,” per the website.
It’s perhaps a blessing that Kaepernick’s attempted return to the NFL didn’t work out as now he can channel his energy into helping those at the center of the national anthem protests that made him such a lightning rod for criticism.
