One of the biggest NFL offseason storylines so far has been the news that former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is still eyeing a return to the league.

We last saw Kaepernick on an NFL field in 2016. He was subsequently not brought back by the Niners after a disappointing season as well as the controversy surrounding his decision to kneel for the national anthem.

Since then, he has remained in shape but has not been on an NFL roster. However, one NFL team has kept coming up in rumors as a potential landing spot for Kaepernick, the Seattle Seahawks. The team just traded star quarterback Russell Wilson and has a clear hole at the position unless they believe in former Denver Broncos quarterback Drew Lock, who they received as part of the trade.

Head coach Pete Carroll also said in 2020 that he had regret about not signing Kaepernick in 2018 when he was supposed to work out with the team.

Many feel that Kaepernick could be a great bridge quarterback for the team while they figure out their long-term solution at the position. Those rumors were not quieted at all on Tuesday when Colin posted a video of his workout with star Seahawks receiver Tyler Lockett.

The workout certainly had the NFL world talking. Many felt that the video was impressive and they would love to see Kaepernick on a team in need of a quarterback this offseason.

At his best, Kaepernick was always known for his impressive arm talent and mobility. It remains to be seen if he is the athlete that he once was against NFL talent, but it looks like the arm strength is still there.

While many have written his chances off, the speculation around Kaepernick’s ability to come in and help an NFL team will continue. Who knows if that team might be the Seahawks or someone else.
