It’s not often a team mascot upstages the game-winning play in a football game.
That might have happened Sunday, as the Indianapolis Colts mascot did some dirty dancing late in the game that left fans scratching their heads.
After Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts scrambled in for a short touchdown run to give Philly the lead with 1:20 remaining, the mascot, who was standing behind the goalpost, did seven quick pelvic thrusts. Not sure what message the mascot meant to send. Is the person inside the costume secretly an Eagles fan? Were they saying, “Bleep you, Jalen Hurts, you just killed the Colts?”
Only Blue, the Colts mascot — who was wearing camouflage gear for military appreciation on Sunday instead of his normal blue outfit — knows for sure.
To summarize NFL fan’s reactions on Twitter: “WTF is that mascot doing?”
“Someone please tell me they just saw the Colts mascot after that Eagles touchdown,” tweeted Brittany Mahomes (probably the wife of Patrick Mahomes, but in the Wild West of Elon Musk’s new Twitter, you never know).
“Unsportsmanlike mascot?” tweeted one fan.
“The Colts mascot interaction with Hurts after that TD is killing me. I’m laughing so hard, i can’t stop watching it,” tweeted another fan.

We’ll end this with a look at how the Eagles majestic mascot, Reggie, spent Sunday afternoon.
Reggie—the 11-year-old official live mascot of the Philadelphia Eagles. He once swooped down to snag some roadkill, took a hit, was badly wounded but survived. He was then “recruited” to The Birds. Apply as you see fit. #GoBirds pic.twitter.com/2nQtkFv7dJ
