Indianapolis Colts fans have continued to mourn the loss of longtime owner Jim Irsay, who passed away last week at the age of 65. But fortunately, it sure seems like his memory will not be forgotten by Colts players heading into the 2025 NFL season.
Irsay’s impact on the Colts organization is immeasurable in the eyes of fans of the organization around the country, as he, of course, brought the organization their first Super Bowl championship since 1970 when the Colts took down the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI in 2007.
Additionally, Irsay has done a lot of good in the world outside of the game of football, especially so when it comes to organizations he has built from the ground up in the Indianapolis area.
In 2020, the founding of the Kicking the Stigma initiative presented those in Indianapolis a means to deal with mental health and substance abuse issues going on in their own life, which Irsay has been on record explaining he has also gone through.
For all that he has done as the owner of the Colts, the organization has decided to wear a patch on their jersey in his honor in 2025, which will include Irsay’s initials and signature. This was announced in a statement on the Colts’ team website on Tuesday.
Clearly, even though Irsay is no longer with us, his impact continues to be felt far beyond his passing in the hearts of Colts players, fans, and within the organization he once ran.
