Donald Trump, Washington Commanders Donald Trump, Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders are not having the sort of season they expected coming off an NFC Championship appearance in rookie Jayden Daniels’ first season in the NFL. Injuries have loomed over the season, including to Daniels, and Sunday’s blowout home loss to the Detroit Lions dropped Washington to 3-7 on the year.

The showing was even more embarrassing, considering that Donald Trump, the President of the United States, was in attendance, although his presence might not have been wanted, considering the reaction from fans.

However, he is still the President, and the Commanders allowing the Lions to have their best offensive showing in front of him has led the team to make some serious changes to the coaching staff, as head coach Dan Quinn has stripped defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. of playcalling duties.

“Commanders HC Dan Quinn told reporters that he now will take over as defensive coordinator and call Washington’s defense,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Luckily Dan Quinn has never had any catastrophic defensive collapses on quite possibly the largest stage of the sport,” one fan wrote sarcastically on Twitter.

“That’s great but is he magically going to get better players. Everyone is either injured or too old or not good enough to start in the NFL,” someone else added.

“Dan is a great example of a coach who should have just remained the defensive coordinator,” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see how the move works out for Washington.
