The Washington Commanders exceeded nearly everyone’s expectations last season behind the arm of rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels and the Commanders reached the NFC Championship before losing to eventually Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles.
Still, there’s a lot to be excited about in the nation’s capital. However, it looks like one star player won’t be a part of the franchise’s bright future.
“The (Commanders) have had trade conversations centered around Pro Bowl DL Jonathan Allen, sources say. Washington plans to do right by the player & Allen’s camp is involved in helping him land at the right spot — either via trade or free agency. He has one year left at $15M,” reported NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Tuesday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Some players are like Myles Garrett and ask for a (trade) because the team doesn’t win enough Some players are like Jonathan Allen and could care less about being in the NFC Championship because the money isn’t right,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“So they are putting it out there that they’ll cut him? Then why would anyone trade for him? He ain’t that level of player where you give up assets to make sure you get him,” another fan added.
“Commanders clearing cap like they’re a Madden franchise,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how Washington plans on replacing Allen’s production.
