The Washington Commanders had a disastrous season from start to finish. Washington opened the campaign with tons of outside noise due to a contract dispute with star wide receiver Terry McLaurin, and things never quite got on track. Even quarterback Jayden Daniels struggled, both to stay healthy and to produce the same way he did as a rookie, when he led the franchise to the NFC Championship.
More noise started to surround the franchise in the middle of the season, when United States President Donald Trump made it clear that he wanted the franchise’s potential new $3.7 billion stadium, which it has been trying to build seemingly forever, to be named after him.
ESPN reported that there had been “backdoor communications” between Trump and the organization about the possibility in November.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt neither confirmed nor denied the reports in an email to the Worldwide Leader, but another White House official told the Worldwide Leader that it was likely the stadium would bear his name.
Now, the first official renderings of this stadium are out. While most of the new indoor stadiums being built have a generic, carbon-copy feel to them, the Commanders’ renderings show a state-of-the-art venue that feels distinctly D.C.
Coming in 2030 to our nation's capital

If Trump still intends to have the building named after him, it would be an undeniable power move and would cement his legacy in a building that is sure to endure for the next several decades, if not longer.
It’s the sort of power play that the first year of his second term shows he’s more than capable of pulling off, whether Commanders fans or his other constituents like it or not.
