A Conversation With Condoleezza Rice

The Denver Broncos will have a famous face to aid their search to replace fired head coach Nathaniel Hackett.

Condoleezza Rice, the former Secretary of State under President George W. Bush and part of the Broncos’ ownership group, will join the search committee for the franchise’s next coach.

“Condoleezza Rice will be part of the Broncos search for their head coach,” Broncos beat reporter Zac Stevens tweeted.

How Rice will aid the search remains to be seen. She joined the Denver ownership group in August 2022.

“I’m just thrilled to be a part of this great Denver Broncos organization for a couple of reasons. One, is that you have to understand how much I love football,” Rice said at the time she joined the sports franchise. “My dad was a football coach when I was born. I was supposed to be his All-American linebacker. When he got a girl, he decided to teach her about the sport instead,” Rice said, before earnestly cracking the day’s best joke. “Even though my father has gone to the Lord, I have to think that today, he’s thinking, ‘She finally got a really important job.’”

The 4-11 Broncos are next in action New Year’s Day when they face the Kansas City Chiefs on the road.
