The Philadelphia Eagles selected Iowa defensive back Cooper DeJean in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. That selection led to a funny social media exchange between DeJean and one of his new teammates, Darius Slay.

Prior to the draft, DeJean was playing a game of Start, Bench, Cut involving a trio of NFL cornerbacks. The options were Sauce Gardner of the New York Jets, Jalen Ramsey of the Miami Dolphins and Darius Slay of the Eagles.

“Probably in that order,” DeJean said. “Start Sauce, bench Jalen and I guess I have to cut Slay.”

There are really no bad answers to that question. Gardner, Ramsey and Slay were all Pro Bowlers in 2023. Of course, as of Friday, DeJean and Slay are teammates.

Well, this is awkward.

Of course, the internet keeps receipts on just about everything — and this was no different.

Now that DeJean and Slay will share the same defensive backfield in Philadelphia, that video resurfaced on Friday night.

Slay also took notice, tweeting “👀 we got to change that 😂😂😂.”

DeJean quickly responded with an updated answer that we’re guessing his new teammate will like. “Changing my answer right now give me big play slay!🦅.”

Wise move from the rookie.
