Two of the most storied NFL franchises will be playing in Canton this year. According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pittsburgh Steelers will play the Dallas Cowboys in the Hall of Fame game on August 6.
Looking at the list of inductees, it makes sense to have the Cowboys and Steelers take part. With the expanded list of inductees, the Cowboys and Steelers each have three people getting inducted. The Cowboys are inducting Jimmy Johnson, Cliff Harris, and (technically) Harold Carmichael. The Steelers are inducting Bill Cowher, Troy Polamalu, and Donnie Shell.
Cowboys vs. Steelers is one of the rare AFC vs. NFC rivalries due to their Super Bowl history. The two teams have played against each other three times in the big game with the Steelers winning at X and XIII and the Cowboys winning XXX. Both teams have played six times in the Hall of Fame game, which is a record but have never played each other.
The Cowboys and Steelers will also play during the regular season in Dallas.
