There’s a new regime in Dallas, as the Dallas Cowboys have promoted offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to head coach following the departure of Mike McCarthy from the role.

Schottenheimer has since brought in former Bears head coach Matt Eberflus to serve as the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator. Unfortunately, Eberflus’s former starting quarterback has some harsh words about what things were like under his leadership.

“How [Eberflus] handled it at that time, for that game, was, I think, one of the things that throughout the locker room people talked about and were annoyed by,” Bears quarterback Caleb Williams said about Chicago’s Hail Mary loss to the Washington Commanders, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Williams said that he even cried when he got home.

“When I got home, I got in my bed, I just dropped a few tears,” Williams said.

“I think those losses were pretty important for me and my growth,” Williams told the magazine. “To go on a losing streak, to be in this position and be at the helm of it, was definitely important for me. Just being able to see how I need to be when times are bad. . . .

“I’m going to work my tail off to never be in that situation again.”

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“I have an idea for Bears’ players: how about take responsibility for the play and the loss. This response by the team leader is a serious red flag for the Chicagi Bears’ 2025 season,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“I can picture Caleb in his mother’s arms after the game crying about the coach lost them that game,” another fan added.

“The #1 overall pick sucked and says he needed more from his coach? You can’t make this type of privilege up,” someone else added.

It’ll be interesting to see how things go for Eberflus in Dallas.
