With CeeDee Lamb holding out of training camp looking for a new contract, one would think getting that matter resolved would be a priority for the Dallas Cowboys.
Apparently, though it’s not.
Jerry Jones spoke about Lamb’s situation on Thursday. And at least publicly, squaring away Lamb’s contract situation isn’t exactly a burning priority for the Cowboys owner and general manager.
In regards to a new contract, Jones said (per Jon Machota of The Athletic) “I don’t have any urgency to get it done.”
The receiver took notice and responded with a message of his own. Actually, it was a pair of messages.
One was a simple “Lol” on X (formerly Twitter), quoting Machota’s post.
Seems to be going well. 🏈 pic.twitter.com/sIInEL8IFw

A Cowboys fan on X also noticed that Lamb removed mention of “America’s Team” on his X bio.

Dallas heads into the 2024 coming off of three straight trips to the playoffs, which all came following a 12-5 regular season. Lamb has been one of the NFL’s best receivers since he was drafted in 2020. In 2023, he had his best season. Lamb led the league with 135 receptions, was second behind Tyreek Hill with 1,749 receiving yards and third behind Hill and Mike Evans with 12 touchdown receptions. Lamb set career highs in all three categories.
So, for a team heading into the season with high aspirations, getting Lamb’s contract situation settled and getting him into a camp should be a top priority.
