The Dallas Cowboys have high aspirations each season, which leads many to believe that they could make a big move ahead of the looming NFL trade deadline next week. However, owner Jerry Jones spoke about the matter on Thursday, and it sounds like the team may stay as is for the rest of the year.

Jones addressed the media on Thursday, where he stated that he doesn’t believe things have “heated up” around the league enough to make a significant deadline move.

“I don’t see anything heated up to a level that would cause something to happen,” Jones told reporters via Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News  “If we don’t do anything at this trade deadline, we’ve got a team, in my mind, that can get us where we want to go.”

This message may be upsetting to Cowboys fans who were excited for their team to potentially make a big move. However, all it simply states is that Jones is comfortable with his current team, not that the team won’t make a deal if something presents itself.

He went on to say that if an impact player does become available before the deadline, then a move could potentially happen.

“We will trade, make no mistake about it,” said Jones via ESPN’s Ed Werder. “We will make a deal, but it’s certainly got a high bar because I like our team.”

Fans offered their opinions on Jones’ comments on social media shortly after the quotes became public.

It will certainly be interesting to see if the Cowboys do indeed make any moves before the deadline. But based on these comments, it sounds like it will be a big splash trade for Dallas or nothing at all.
