The International Olympic Committee officially approved flag football to be implemented as a sport for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games on Monday. This has led to several NFL stars revealing their interest in being a part of Team USA for the upcoming games, including Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons.

Parsons is of course one of the most dynamic defensive players in all of football, which has helped make the Cowboys’ defense one of the best defensive units in the NFL.

Considering flag football is a sport that is geared away from tackling and physicality, Parsons isn’t exactly the first NFL player that comes to mind to represent Team USA in flag football.

However, Parsons stated on his podcast, The Edge with Micah Parsons on Bleacher Report, that he wants to play offense for Team USA’s future flag football team.

“Flag football is coming to the Olympics in 2028,” said Parsons. “Who should be on the team? I’m going on the U.S. team. I’m gonna go win an Olympic gold medal. Because I can’t do it in track, I can’t do anything else. But I know I can play some flag football. I think I might be playing offense for the guys. I’ll be joining the team.”

Parsons then discussed who he would want to play with on Team USA, mentioning Tyreek Hill, Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, and Ceedee Lamb as players he would want on a Team USA “dream team”.

The Olympics just made the ruling to add flag football for the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles, so it is still unclear if NFL players will even be allowed to participate.

That being said, it seems like Team USA will be pretty spectacular if NFL players are indeed allowed to play. Former NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski and Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill have already stated their interest in participating.

And you can now add Micah Parsons to the star-studded cast of potential players for the team as well.
