The Dallas Cowboys are desperate to get things turned around next season after going 7-10 and missing the playoffs last season. A lot of the Cowboys struggles from last season can be attributed to injuries, with both quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb suffering season ending injuries during the campaign.
After Prescott went down, his backups, Cooper Rush and Trey Lance, struggled mightily in his stead. Knowing this, it looks like the Cowboys are looking to make sure the guys behind Prescott are more NFL-ready.
Dallas has traded for a young talent to replace Rush, who signed with the Baltimore Ravens in free agency, according to one prominent league insider.
“Trade: New England is sending QB Joe Milton to the Dallas Cowboys, sources tell ESPN. With Cooper Rush going to Baltimore, Dallas now has a new backup for Dak Prescott,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Thursday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“This is disappointing bc I know he’s just gonna rot in Dallas, unless they actually decide to use him Unlikely with how much they unjustifiably prioritize Dak, one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Weird trade for both sides, but I guess the Cowboys needed a backup guy for Dak,” one fan added.
“As a Cowboys fan, having Joe Milton for $1 million is more value than Dak for $60 million. Solid move i guess,” wrote someone else.
It’ll be interesting to see if Milton gets a chance to take the field in Dallas.
