A Dallas Cowboys radio host is sorry for earlier comments he made that wished injury upon star San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey ahead of the teams’ NFC playoff clash.
Bryan Broaddus, a Cowboys fan that hosts GBAG Nation on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, made the comments earlier this week.

“The McCaffrey trade is paying dividends. He’s made it unfair,” Broaddus said while previewing the game.
“He’s healthy now,” said a co-host. “In Carolina he couldn’t stay healthy. Now he never gets hurt.”
“We could use an injury,” Broaddus replied. “We really could.”
“Yeah,” the co-host replied. “A hamstring [injury] would be good.”
“And you know? It’s basically a playoff tradition,” Broaddus ended.
Broaddus apologized for the shocking comments on Thursday:
I am sorry this even happened. Not my intent. My hope it’s a great game.

“I am sorry this even happened. Not my intent. My hope it’s a great game,” Broaddus tweeted.
The NFL world was quick to react to the apology:
Especially to what just happened in Cincinnati a few weeks ago?!? Terrible man.

If a player doubled down on their original comment and then finally and curtly apologized, many in the media would critique everything about the apology calling it insincere. How should we then look at “I’m sorry this even happened”. Well no shit. I’ve stopped listening but…

It wasn’t your intent for anyone outside of Cowboys fans to hear it. Now it got a lot of traction. Hoping @CMC_22 smashes you guys

"We could use and injury" "Yeah, hamstring would be good" Shut up. It was 100% your intent. Saying it wasn't doesn't change that. You literally said him getting hurt is something the team needs and then even said an injury you would want him to have.

The 49ers traded for the all-everything running back in October 2022, and McCaffrey quickly went to work, becoming the first player since LaDainian Tomlinson of the then-San Diego Chargers to run, catch, and throw for a touchdown in a game in 2004.
The 49ers host the Cowboys on Sun., Jan. 22nd, at 6:30 p.m. ET. Oddsmakers currently list the 49ers as 3.5-point home favorites.
