The San Francisco 49ers are off to a 3-0 start that includes divisional wins over both the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams. It’s been about as picturesque a start to the campaign as even the most optimistic Niners fan could’ve envisioned at the onset of the season, other than the constant injuries that seem to perpetually plague the franchise.

At the center of San Francisco’s success has been quarterback Brock Purdy, who is tracking to have his best season as a professional. Through three games, Purdy has thrown for 789 yards and nine touchdowns against just one interception.

He’s been so impressive, in fact, that he has led ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky to call back to the widely recognized GOAT at the game’s most important position.

“I’m not, I’m not discrediting Kittle and McCaffrey and whatnot. I don’t think there’s anybody in the league that could be doing what Purdy’s doing in San Francisco right now,” Orlovsky said on Friday’s episode of First Take.

“I’m telling you guys, dude, I’m just telling you guys, the way that this thing is getting operated right now, it is like watching Brady in New England.”

“You don’t think Josh Allen could do what he’s doing if Josh Allen was in a not good place right now?” host Shae Cornette asked Orlovsky.

“Not the way Brock is, no,” he responded.

After being asked if he would take Purdy over Josh Allen at the moment, Orlovsky gave a defiinitive no, before explaining the elite cohort that the Niners quarterback has found himself as things stand.

“The six quarterbacks that are playing the best in the NFL right now through the weeks are Brock Purdy, Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Trevor Lawrence, and Kirk Cousins. Are there other quarterbacks that I’m taking over Kirk Cousins? Of course. But when it comes to like the guys that are playing the best right now, that’s the six.”
