Over the past few months, the Washington Commanders franchise has been in a state of limbo as team owner Dan Snyder considered selling the team. And while it’s taken several months for a potential buyer to finally emerge, it looks like a deal has finally been made.
According to a report from Sportico on Thursday afternoon, Dan Snyder has reached “an agreement in principle” to sell the team to a group led by Josh Harris, who currently co-owns the Philadelphia 76ers.
“EXCLUSIVE: Dan Snyder has reached an agreement in principle to sell the @Commanders for $6 billion to a group led by Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Josh Harris. Harris’ group, includes billionaire Mitchell Rales and former NBA star @MagicJohnson,” Sportico said in a tweet. “Josh Harris and Dan Snyder are hoping to execute a contract in the coming days. If a deal is reached, it will be the highest price ever paid for a sports team, eclipsing the $4.6B that Rob Walton paid for the NFL’s Denver Broncos last year.”
It’s absolutely massive news, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on social media.
Guardians part-owner David Blitzer is now also part-owner of the Washington Commanders, it appears. https://t.co/4YV22h6AtK

We’ll have to see how long it takes the move to become official. But this is certainly a sizable development.
