It’s become clear in recent days that billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is interested in buying the Washington Commanders NFL franchise. But unfortunately for him, it’s also become clear that the current owner, Dan Snyder, is not particularly interested in selling the franchise to him.
According to a report from the New York Post on Friday night, Dan Snyder prevented Jeff Bezos from attending a private auction for the team this week, even though Bezos wanted to attend and presumably put together a bid for the team.
The reason Bezos was prevented from bidding on the team is that Snyder reportedly holds a grudge against Bezos after the Washington Post – which is owned by Bezos – publishes a series of articles exposing that Snyder enabled a culture of sexual harassment within the Washington Commanders franchise.
It’s a stunning development in the potential sale of the franchise, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.
Paging Roger Gooddell round up 24 votes and get this dude out of here, if he won’t go quietly, drag him out. This is insanity, he’s sabotaging this sale. https://t.co/twYz6f9lnW

If true then maybe Bezos does have to sell WaPo as an olive branch to Snyder. Ironic the WaPo who did so much to get Snyder out could be what holds back the sale. Smh https://t.co/45UZvlxvxS

If the rest of the owners want Bezos, I have a feeling this could get ugly … quickly. https://t.co/qvtNtQkJHu

Without Bezos able to bid on the team, nobody even came close to the $6 billion minimum Snyder demanded as the highest bid was just $5.5 billion – $500 million short of Snyder’s minimum.
This is certainly an interesting development and it’s safe to say that the NFL world will be following it over the next several months.
