New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones walks off the field after the Giants fall to the Washington Football Team, 22-7, at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022. Nyg Vs Was

The New York Giants underwent some major shake-ups this offseason, parting ways with general manager Dave Gettleman and head coach Joe Judge after a disappointing 4-13 season.

They have now brought in general manager Joe Schoen and new head coach Brian Daboll in the offseason in what will be a very important year for the team moving forward. Quarterback Daniel Jones will need to prove a ton to his new head coach and general manager. The Giants will also need to make a decision on Jones with his fifth-year option kicking in at the end of next season.

Jones had an unfortunate end to his 2021 season with a neck injury that ended his year early. After Jones went down, the Giants were a complete disaster, losing every game for the rest of the season.

Giants CEO John Mara recently said that they still have faith in Jones and that the team “did everything to screw the kid up.”

While Mara’s comments seem to relieve some of the blame off of Jones, the quarterback has made it known publicly that he makes excuses for his performance.

“I’m certainly the one responsible for how I play and I take that very seriously. I haven’t played well enough, we haven’t won enough games to this point.” Jones said on a recent podcast appearance. Jones added that during the offseason, he is focused on himself and improving every day.

These are certainly the kinds of things you want to hear if you are a Giants fan or a Jones believer. The quarterback is showing some great maturity with these comments and knows he needs to play better if he and the team are going to be together in the future.

It seems like the hiring of Daboll could really help Jones this upcoming season given his role in the development of Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allen. Jones doesn’t have the arm strength that Allen does, but he offers the same kind of mobility and game that the Bills QB possesses.

If Daboll can help Jones the way that he helped Allen in the early stages of his career, we could see a very different Giants team on the field next season.
