Throughout the past several months leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft, the New York Giants have certainly not been shy about exploring the possibility of selecting a new quarterback in the NFL Draft, bringing in several players for visits and not ruling out the possibility of even trading up to select a top quarterback. But it sounds like the team has decided to move forward with Daniel Jones as their starter instead.
The New York Giants held the No. 6 overall pick in the draft. The team decided to select star wide receiver Malik Nabers with the pick even though there were a few top quarterbacks still on the board like J.J. McCarthy, Michael Penix Jr., and Bo Nix. That signaled that the Giants were happy moving forward with Daniel Jones as the starter, and general manager Joe Schoen confirmed that decision in his press conference on Thursday.
“I’m comfortable with where we’re at,” Schoen said of the team’s quarterbacks, according to Pro Football Talk.
Obviously, that quarterback room includes Jones after he signed an extension with the team last offseason, but the team also added veteran quarterback Drew Lock this offseason to serve as his backup.
We’ll have to see how Jones performs this season after the team decided to stick with him.
